The LIVE project is designed to assist people to overcome social isolation. Social isolation can occur for anyone; however it most often occurs when people live alone and do not have contact with friends, family or networks such as employment and community. There are many older people and people with a disability who experience social isolation and LIVE volunteers can assist by providing social support or respite support for parents of young people with a disability.
Our volunteer programme is tailored to meet the needs of isolated individuals with disabilities and thus enhance their opportunities to experience genuine community inclusion.
LIVE creates opportunities for fulfilment, both for people with a disability and for community volunteers.
Both social and respite support involve spending time (approx 3-4 hrs a fortnight) one on one with an individual however there are a few main differences between the two.

Anyone can make a referral to the LIVE project. You may be a person with a disability, a carer, a parent, a disability support worker or a Disability SA service provider. However the person requiring support will need to be eligible for Home and Community Care Funding.
If you need or know of someone in need of a volunteer then please contact the LIVE Project by email or phone and we will send you a referral kit.
